SITUATION DIAGNOSIS
At the beginning of project partners had to investigate the specific of adult education in remote areas of participating countries. During first meeting it was decided to conduct Qualitative Research and in this way to find out, if entrepreneurs and adults, dealing with tourism, have possibility to receive formal or non-formal education by living in village or small town, are they satisfied with education services they got, what are their needs for training and improving themselves, what training course they would like to attend, what knowledge they lack, what difficulties they face by running business in geographically isolated place. By doing Qualitative Research partners conducted 4-5 interviews with representatives of businesses from hospitality, tourism sector, located in villages or very small towns in Western Lithuania, Southern Estonia, Southern Sweden and South Karelia area in Finland. In total, 19 participants from 4 countries gave their views about the subject. The questionnaire and in turn answers were divided into the following parts: 1. Description of small businesses, involved in research. 2. Experience of improvement of qualification related to business development. 3. Current learning needs of entrepreneurs. 4. Also Klaipėda State University of Applied Sciences on the basis of qualitative research results prepared scientific article “The Need for Knowledge, Abilities and Skills of Generation X Representatives of Small Businesses Working in Tourism Industry in Remote Rural Areas of the Baltic Region: Case Study of Lithuania and Estonia” and published in scientific journal “Science and Processes of Education”.
