Qualitative Research
One of the main activities of NordTourNet-3 project is Qualitative Research (QR).
The aim of QR – to find out communication problems between different generations in tourism companies. Also to identify, how employees of different generations communicate with customers of different generations, what tools do they use to communicate with customers and each other, what communication problems are encountered and what
solutions can be for problems’ solving.
QR will consist of semi-structured interview and observation:
1.1. Semi-structured interview will be conducted with 4 representatives of tourism companies, one respondent per generation, i.e. one respondent from Baby-Boomers, X, Y and Z generations. The aim of semi-structured interview - to find out attitudes and opinions of representative of each generation on the communication process within the company: communication tools used, encountered problems and how those problems were or will be solved.
1.2. Observation of communication process in tourism companies of representatives of 4 generations - Baby-Boomers, X, Y and Z. This may be a conversation between the administrator and the client at the hotel reception, travel agency manager and traveller, owner of hostel and his/her guests and etc. Each partner must observe at least 4 different communication processes.
The result of QR - identified communication problems of 4 generations in tourism companies. Each partner will collect at least 20 communication problems and their solutions. On the basis of problems collected the main product of the project – game, as
education tool for adult learners – will be created.
