About NordTourNet 1
Tourism is very important economic sector, which influences economic growth and employment in countries and in the whole Europe in general.
Nordic and Baltic countries have potential for development of various kinds of tourism attractions, because Northern Europe has unspoilt nature, unique culture and history, well saved languages and traditions, interesting legends. On the other hand, because of climate particularity the tourism of Nordic and Baltic countries we can describe as highly seasonal. This fact leads to the following challenges:
The tasks of NordTourNet-1 project
Sustainable and Innovative Tourism Network of Nordic and Baltic Countries was consisted of adult education organisations, NGOs and culture centers from Lithuania, Estonia, Sweden and Iceland from areas, which suffer from seasonal tourism problems and need implementation of innovative tourism ideas.
Sustainability of NordTourNet-1 project
The network had intention to be expanded by adult education and culture centers, universities and institutes, business and governmental organisations.
It was planned to create or complement existing training programmes of network organisations with the aim to educate organizations/individuals with initiatives in tourism sector on the different topics, for instance, how to advertise and sell your services, effective communication with clients, time management, accountancy, innovative tourism and etc.
In March 2017 Nordplus Adult Development project "Nordic-Baltic Tourism Learning – NordTourNet-2" was submitted in order to continue the work of NordTourNet-1 partnership. The second application was also successful and got the grant for the period 2017-2019.

- Touristic services providers do not have steady means of subsistance;
- Enterpreneurs having ideas of touristic business are in a state of uncertainty;
- Young people with innovative ideas are leaving to other regions/countries.
The tasks of NordTourNet-1 project
- To create the network of organizations working in the field of tourism and culture, adult education in geographically isolated places;
- To foster innovative tourism services/products;
- To research the situation of tourism development in partners countries and introduce the analysis for decision-making institutions;
- To detect local good practices in the field of tourism services, especially with aspect of innovation;
- To share innovative ideas through workshops, jobshadowings, study visits, discussions and the main project product – compendium of best practices;
- To foster entrepreneurship and occupation of local inhabitants in the geographically disadvantaged areas;
- To influence economic growth of the regions and decrease unemployment rate.
